Biographical Sketch:
He was the son Gordon and Ann Nesbitt and the middle of 5 children. He grew up on a 6-generation family dairy and grape farm south of Lawton in Porter Township and continued to reside in Porter Township. He is a member of the National Rifle Association, Van Buren County Farm Bureau, South Haven Steelheaders, Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fishermen's Association, Paw Paw and South Haven Chambers of Commerce, and Van Buren and Allegan County Republican Parties. He was a page for the US House of Representatives. He was the legislative director for Congressman Tim Walberg, and the legislative director and senior policy advisor for Congressman Tim Murphy. He has served as a Republican precinct delegate, on the Van Buren County Executive Committee, and a delegate to the Michigan State Republican Convention. Nesbitt was also a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). He worked for the bipartisan Congressional Natural Gas Caucus and the Congressional Steel Caucus. He was legislative director in the US House of Representatives. Early in his career, he worked for former State Representative and State Senator Tom George. Appointed state Lottery Commissioner in February 2017.
