Biographical Sketch:
Of English and Welsh parentage. Son of Ranson and Mary Ursula (Crane) Dexter. He moved with his family to Saginaw County, MI in 1883. He held the offices of school director, township supervisor and deputy clerk county road commissioner in Saginaw. After serving in various public administrative capacities, Dexter moved with his family to Mt. Pleasant in Isabella County in March of 1911. He ran a mercantile business [McCall and Dexter Implement Store] and farm. In Isabella County. Dexter held various public offices, including that of City Treasurer [1918-23] and secretary of the County Poor Commission [10 years]; he was deputy road commissioner in 1910 and was elected Isabella County Clerk from 1930 to January 1935. Member of the Odd Fellows.
