Son of Oliver Edward and Frances Malinda (McCutchon) Farrier. At 15 years of age, he took charge of his father's farm and managed it until he was 25 years old. He also worked in the lumber woods during the winter. He was elected township treasurer when he at 21 years of age. Two years later he was elected county treasurer and held this office for 2 terms. Montmorency County 1913-1916. In 1920 and 1930, he operated a Ford auto dealership in Hillman, MI
