Biographical Sketch:
Son of Chester & Mary Jane (Gray) Harris. Of Pennsylvania Dutch and Irish descent. Raised on a farm; self educated. He was a teacher in Charlevoix Co. for 12 years. Studied law & was admitted to the bar, April, 1893; Practiced in Boyne City, Michigan. He was involved in the lumber industry and in the development of the Boyne City, Gaylord and Alpena Railroad. He was director of the Boyne City Chemical Co. Member of the Masons, the Odd Fellows, the Maccabees and the Knights of Pythias.
