His parents were born in the northern part of Ireland, going from that coutry to Canada, where they lived ten or twelve years before coming to the United States. His farther bought a farm near Redford and he lived on the farm until 1891, when he formed a partnership with his older brother under the firm name of Hart Bros., Builders and Real Estate, which partnership continued for thirty years. Then they incorporated under the name of Hart Bros. Building & Realty Co. of which he became president.
