He emigrated from Germany in 1869 He has been supervisor of the township of Richland, Saginaw county, for 29 years and served as chairman of the board of supervisors for 8 years; he has also served as highway commissioner. He is a member of the Masons, IOOF [Odd Fellows], BPOE [Elks] and Gleaners.
