Biographical Sketch:
Son of Willard and Zerviah (Taft) Lovell. He came to Climax, Michigan from Vermont at the age of 13 with his siblings and parents. Interested in the medical profession, he studied with area doctors. After spending a year at the city hospital and in the eye and ear infirmary of New York City, and 2 years in Otsego, he returned to Kalamazoo County in the fall of 1849 where he practiced until retirement in 1865. He had extensive land holdings. He was a member of the Kalamazoo county board of supervisors, representing Climax township for 18 years. He was inspector of prisons for 12 years. Member of Masonic lodge Number 59, of Climax.
