Biographical Sketch:
At an early age engaged with his brothers in the mercantile business in Fayetteville TN. Returned to Cincinnati in spring of 1868 and remained there until he moved to Eldorado KS in the fall of 1870. There he began to read law with Judge William P. Campbell and in the spring of 1872 was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of KS. Retuned to Cincinnati in summer of 1872 and entered the law office of Lincoln, Smith and Stephens. Attended law department of Cincinnati University , graduated May, 1873. In June he came to Detroit and built a lucrative and extensive law practice.
