Biographical Sketch:
Early in 1836, he brought his family from Orange County, NY, to Michigan by way of the Erie Canal to Buffalo, across Lake Erie to Detroit, and by ox team to Ann Arbor. There his wife and children stayed while he went on to Mason, Ingham County, MI. He located land just north of the city and in October 1836 his family joined him . He was the first Supervisor of Vevay, Postmaster of Mason, the first Justice of Ingham County, and Judge of Probate for Ingham County.
