Biographical Sketch:
Rep.Dist. gives birth date as July 1804. Graduated from Hamilton College, 1827; admitted to the bar 1830; practiced in Little Falls, NY until 1836. Due to ill health, he removed to Allegan, MI, 1836. Worked as a surveyor, engineer & geologist. From 1848 to 1858 he practiced law. Elected circuit court judge of the 9th district, 1858, and served until 1865. He was at one time Circuit Court Commissioner of Allegan County. He was interested in education and temperance, and was an eloquent and logical speaker.

Notable Facts:
President pro tem of the Senate, 1846. Served in both state Houses He wrote a volume of interesting Indian legends
