Biographical Sketch:
Son of Gotlieb and Helen (Amsden or Arnsden) Karcher. Of German descent. In 1887, he moved to Rose City, MI to pursue his teaching career; became superintendent of schools for 12 years. He operated a general store and a drug store and drug business in Twining, MI for over 30 years. He bought and sold real estate. He held various public offices, having been school examiner, judge of probate, mayor, postmaster, supervisor and clerk. Elected probate judge of Ogemaw Co., 1905. He was a member of the board of school examiners for over 18 years. Member of the Masons; Knights of Pythias; the Elks; Maccabees; Life Guards and Modern Brotherhood.

Notable Facts:
Died of apoplexy/stroke. Politicalgraveyard says he was Baptist.
