He held the positions of township treasurer 2 years, supervisor 6 years, chairman of the board of supervisors 4 years and sheriff of Tuscola County 4 years. He was chairman of the selective draft board during the World War I and served diligently in all war , liberty loan and Red Cross activities. Member of the Masons and a past master of the Blue Lodge as well as a member of the Chapter, Consistory and Shrine.
