Biographical Sketch:
Son of Robert and Anne (Muir) Campbell, the family removed to August township, Washtenaw County, MI on 3/1/1843. He came to Michigan in 1842. Bought a farm near Ann Arbor so in the winter he could attend the University of Michigan. He was so far into debt it took him 20 years to pay off his farm. He served as Pittsfield township clerk, 1864; treasurer 1865-66; and justice of the peace, 1867. Member of the Grange.
