Biographical Sketch:
Son of Christopher and Elizabeth (Peckett) Jibb.He emigrated from England with his parents in May, 1851. They lived in Genesee, NY for 2 years before moving to Hudson Twp, Lenawee Co., MI. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in company B, 2d Michigan infantry, but not being of age his father objected and he was taken out; he again enlisted In company F, 4th Michigan infantry, and was again objected to by his father, and again taken out. On August 24, 1861, he again enlisted in company F, 11th Michigan infantry, where he served over 3 years with General George H. Thomas. He was wounded twice, but served in all the battles with the army of the Cumberland. Upon returning, he worked at farming and blacksmlthlng until 1876, when he was elected collector and marshal of the village of Morenci; was appointed deputy sheriff, In which position he served for 8 years; was deputy oil Inspector but resigned to take the position of superintendent of the Michigan Stone & Supply Company quarry, located at Maybee, Monroe County. He was twice commander of the G. A. R. post at Adrian, MI, and senior vice commander of the state department one year: He is a member of the Masons and of the Knights of Pythias..
