Biographical Sketch:
Moved to Michigan with his parents, Mica and Emeline (Godfrey) Mudge, in 1838, settling on a farm in Vergennes, Kent County. After attending college in Ohio, he returned to Michigan, teaching and preaching. He was ordained , 2/1/1857. That year he moved to Maple Rapids, Clinton County to teach. He served 7 months in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry, Co. C in 1865. He was elected county superintendent of schools in 1867 and 1869; was appointed to fill a vacancy in the named position in 1871; was postmaster at Maple Rapids from 1871-78. He then moved to Belding, Ionia County, and serviced as pastor and published a local newspaper. In 1882, he was chosen president of the Union Christian College, located at Merom, Sullivan County, IN. After 5 years; he resigned and returned to Michigan, and devoted himself to pastoral work.
