As a civilian taught aeronautics in the Naval Unit in Grand Rapids during WWII.
Taught mathematics at Lowville Academy, New York and Port Jefferson High School, New York 1928-1937.
Also taught at Holland HS and served as personnel director for the Holland Furnace Co. (1944-1946). At Holland High School he was the head of the physics department (1937-1942).
Taught aeronautics in the Navy during World War II at the Naval Air School in Grand Rapids. Director Alumni and Public Relations and member of faculty at Hope College since (1946-1959).
Member of the Holland Professional Club, Rotary Club, Century Club, American College Public Relations, Michigan College Public Relations, and American Alumni Council.
Past Director of Holland Tulip Festival and Michigan Bulb Growers Association
