Biographical Sketch:
In about 1822 his family moved to western New York. He taught school for 3 years before studying medicine. He moved to Flint, MI in 1846 to pracrice medicine until 1862 when he was commissioned as a surgeon in the 8th regiment, Michigan Infantry; in fall, 1864, he transferred to the 30th Infantry for the duration of the war. Upon returning to Flint, he went into the drug business. He was elected alderman in 1870 and served 2 years.
