Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jesse H. and Lucy F. WinchellMoved to Wisconsin then to Minnesota when young. At 17, hebecame a public school teacher. A few years later he became a printer. At age 20 became editor of the Freeborn County Standard and also spent several years in St. Paul and Chicago offices. In 1870 or 1871 he moved from Chicago to Michigan and established the Allegan County Republic in Plainwell. He was editor and proprietor. He was one of the founders of the Union Agricultural and Industrial Society. He was living in Chicago in 1900.
