Biographical Sketch:
Son of Stephen E. & Rachel (Bell) Woodworth. Of English & Irish descent. At age 4 he went to live with his grandfather Bell in Cayuga Co., NY after his mother died in 1845. Graduated from a seminary at Cazenovia, 1861. Became a farmer in Auburn, NY until 1867 when he moved to Caseville, MI. Involved in lumbering & became county surveyor. Twp supervisor from 1868-76. Admitted to the bar 1876. Founded the Advertiser in Caseville, 1874, acting as editor until 1876 when it merged with the News in Huron County.

Father of Rep./Sen. Fred Langdon Woodworth & Paul O. Woodworth; father-in-law of Margaret Woodworth.
