Biographical Sketch:
In about 1839, family circumstances placed him in Oberlin, Ohio. In February of 1846, he struck out for Wisconsin, where he worked, attending school during the winter. He enlisted in the 15th US Infantry in August 1847 and was sent to Mexico. Upon return from war, he sent 7 years in Wisconsin attending school, teaching and working in wagon shops. He returned to Oberlin, OH in to attend school in 1855. Mover to Lenawee County, MI in 1860, then to Eaton County in 1863. He held most local offices from constable to supervisor. In 1885 He was in Girard, KS

Notable Facts:
He was one of 26 survivors of his company [originally 136 men] in Mexico.
