Biographical Sketch:
Son of Davis D. and Malinda (Hagerman) Bennett. He served as supervisor in 1876 and 1877; justice of the peace of Adrian township, county registrar of deeds and 6 years as alderman of the city of Adrian. Stillman W. Bennett remained on the farm until January 1, 1885, when he moved his family to Adrian. From 1884-89 he served Lenawee county as registrar of deeds, and later was alderman 6 years. In 1897 he returned to the farm, where he remained until 1902. In that year he came to Adrian to accept a position in the sales department of the Page Woven Wire Fence Company. In 1906 he was elected justice of the peace, and re-elected in subsequent elections. He was a member of the Masons and the Knights Templar.
Notable Facts:
Son of state Representative Davis D. Bennett.
One of 10 children.
In 1878 he was elected state representative and met with the legislature in its first session in the new capitol building opened in 1879.
