Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jesse and Lucy (Moorehouse) Bowen. Ozro lived on a farm until 1861. He enlisted as a private in Company B, Michigan 11th Infantry on Aug, 24, 1861; promoted to full sergeant; promoted to full 1st sergeant on Mar 15, 1864. Mustered out on 30 Sep 1864 at Sturgis, MI. He then entered Hillsdale College. He purchased an interest in the Coldwater Republican, and remained there for some time. He was deputy commissioner of the state land office for 5 years, and a member of the firm of Dart, Bowen & Co., of Lansing. He later lived in the Upper Peninsula and Chicago.
