Biographical Sketch:
Son of Benjamin and Sallie Burton. He moved to Napoleon, Jackson Co., MI with his family, in 1844. In 1856, he moved to Barry County, MI, and cleared farmland. He served as justice of the peace. He was a Whig until the formation of the Republican Party and a Republican until 1876.
