Biographical Sketch:
He moved to Hickory Corner, Barry County, MI in May 1856. In March 1860, he went to Sonora, CA and work in and around mines for 4 years. He returned to Michigan in spring, 1864. After a short stay, he went to Fort Wayne, IN, and engaged in the insurance business, first as Deputy Secretary, afterwards as Director and General Agent of the Fort Wayne Insurance Company. He returned to Prairieville, Barry county, in 1866. There is a George C. Mcalaster, farmer , aged 37, living in Prairieville, Michigan, according to the 1870 US Census; and a George McAllister, miller, age 47, living in Gun Plains, Allegan County, Michigan with Eliza, according to the 1880 US Census
