Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Sarah (Woodward) Mason. He studied law; admitted to the bar in Vermont. He came to Michigan in 1836 and settled in Port Huron. He served 2 years as prosecuting attorney of St. Clair County. He was village president of Port Huron, Michigan, 1849; delegate to Michigan state constitutional convention, 1850. He moved to Detroit in 1851, there serving as police commissioner, 1865-69, inspector of the house of correction, 1862-72. He was vice-president of the American national Bank at the time of his death. He had gone to Rhode Island for health reasons but died there.
