Biographical Sketch:
Son of Theodore N. & Sarah (Underhill) Chapin. Of Welsh descent.
Beginning at age fourteen worked in the lumber woods for a time. Settled in Bellaire, MI, 1881; operated a dairy farm.
Served as school director, school treasurer, justice of the peace and four (1911-1914) years as sheriff of Antrim county.
