Biographical Sketch:
He was an early settler in Monroe county. He was Ash twp supervisor 1847-52, a justice of the peace, and a leading citizen for many years. He was called "Black Hawk" from his complexion & characteristics as a leader. He and his wife died of yellow fever while in Memphis TN where they had gone two weeks earlier to spend the winter. Their daughter Nellie who traveled to Memphis with them was reported to be returning to the north.

Delegate to Michigan state constitutional convention, 1850. Born in NY state about 1808; exact birthdate unknown. Served in both chambers
