Biographical Sketch:
Son of Levi and Sarsh "Sally" (Green) Bacon. Emigrated to Michigan, 1838 from NY; lived in Pontiac from 1842-75; appointed postmaster 1848-52; mayor of Pontiac 1866-67. He was a partenr in a dry ggods business with W.M.McConnell and later in the produce business with Edward Coats; a later parnership was formed with his brother-in-law, A.H. Whitehead. He was part of the group that formed a gas power company that evolved into Consumers Power Co. in Michigan. Appointed cashier/clerk of the Patent Office, 1875, by Secretary Chandler, and was living in Washington, DC in 1880.

Notable Facts:
Originally interred in Sec. R92, Lot 342 at the historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington DC, he was moved to Rock Creek along with other family members by his son Charles in January of 1916.
