Son of Andreas and Engel Justine F. (Grimme) Quintel. He came to the US when 19, in 1876 and naturalized in 1904. He move to Williams Township in Bay County where he purchased a farm and worked 4 seasons in a sawmill to help pay for the farm. He attended school at night to obtain a basic English education.
Served as justice of the peace, treasurer, school director and supervisor.
