Biographical Sketch:
Son of James and Elizabeth (Russell) Gray. As a boy he was a newsboy; at 16, he became editor of the 'review' at Richmond Hill, ON; at 22 he purchased the Plymouth 'Mail' in Plymouth, MI. He published the 'Mail' for 8 years. He purchased the Lansing 'Record' but sold it within a year to conduct a printing business. Emigrated to the US in about 1888 and naturalized in 1899. He was living in Mason, MI in 1920. He was elected Lansing city clerk in 1904, 1905 and 1907; Ingham County Register of Deeds, 1919-24; Clerk of the Michigan House of Representatives, 1929-36, 1939-44
