Biographical Sketch:
Of English descent. Son of Adam and Susan (Pratt) Manwaring Moved to Avon twp, Oakland Co., MI with his family at age 12, 1836. At age 20, he moved to the unorganized area of Montcalm, clearing land near Greenville working various jobs for 2 years. He moved to Lapeer county in 1847 and had a mercantile and a lumber mill there with his brother-in-law. Erected farm buildings when the mill burned down in 1873. He lived in Attica township for a time. Moved to the city of Lapeer, 1871. He was elected supervisor in 1872.
