Biographical Sketch:
Son of Stewart C. & Mary A. (Snyder) Moon. Of English, Irish & Dutch ancestry. Moved with his family from Wayne to Jackson Co., 1852. Set out on his own, 12/1854 working in sawmills, 1st in Montcalm Co. then Muskegon; by 1868 formed his own lumber company with a partner. He was elected president of the Muskegon Savings Bank in 1887; member of the board of education of Muskegon in 1891 Served as township treasurer, supervisor and president of the village; U.S. Representative from Michigan 9th District, 1893-95.
