Admitted to the bar in 1855; moved to Ontonagon, MI, in November 1855; Elected district attorney of the Upper Peninsula in 1857 and 1859; moved to Houghton, MI, in February 1860; prosecuting attorney of Houghton County 1861-67; circuit judge of the 12th judicial circuit 1894-99.
