Biographical Sketch:
Came to Michigan with his parents, Andrew Alexander and Jane (Purvis) Vanevery when an infant. He served as a private in the War of 1812 and became a quartermaster. After the war he was commissioned as a Colonel in the militia. He served as Supervisor of Hamtramck Township [1833-37] and Justice of the Peace. He moved to Franklin, Oakland Co., MI in 1837 to farm and mill and ran a distillery and ashery.
