Biographical Sketch:
Of English descent. Son of Uriah and Roxanna (Joyner) Thompson; grandson of Beoni Thompson. He began his medical practice in Middleburg, OH. After 18 months he became a professor of anatomy, physiology, chemistry and natural philosophy at Olivet College. He had a successful practice in Vermontville, begining in 1859, returning there after the Civil War. He was commissioned in 1862 as assistant surgeon of the 12th Michigan Infantry. He resigned in January 1863, due to a bout with typhoid fever, but was made assistant surgeon of the 11th Michigan Cavalry, December 1863. he mustered out in August of 1865. . He was appointed US Consul at Goderich, Canada from 1871-76; served as consular agent in Stratford, Canada for a short time before settling in Flint, MI where he practiced medicine until his death in 1893. He was president of the opera house and acted as its director. he was presiden to the Flint Board of Pension Examiners. Member of the Masons.
