Came to America with his parents, Christian and Anna Maria (Schiller or Schliller) Ternes, about 1846. He farmed for many years in Greenfield where held many local offices. He was supervisor for 6 years. He moved to Detroit in 1870 and was assistant receiver of taxes in 1887.

Notable Facts:
Death certificate give birth year as 1832; headstone says 1831; censuses use both.
