Biographical Sketch:
Son of Robert and Jennie (McDonald) McCurdy. Emigrated in 1836. His family located in London, ON; when he was 14 he went alone, to Birmingham, MI and learned the cooper's trade He settled in Corunna about 1850. Admitted to the bar in 1854 and began practice in Corunna in February 1855. Elected probate judge in 1860. He established the First National Bank of Corunna in 1865 and served as its president until 1873. He served as prosecuting attorney and mayor of Corunna. Member of the Masons [Grand Master of the GEKT of the US] and the knights Templar

Notable Facts:
His family donated the land for McCurdy Park in Corunna. Some sources say he was born in Michigan. Death certificate says Scotland.
