Biographical Sketch:
Son of Charles T. and Mary A. (Morrison) Brennan of American descent. Moved with parents to Detroit, 1895. Admitted to the bar in 1912. Legal adviser to the Michigan State Labor Department in 1912 and 1913; asst. corp. counsel for the city of Detroit 1915-1920. After resigning from the bench, he practiced law in Detroit; during 1914, he was associated in the law business with former Attorney General Otto Kirchner and during the following year with Hon. Alexander J. Groesbeck, then present Gov. of Michigan. In March 1916 was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Notable Facts:
Drafted the automobile traffic ordinance of Detroit, used as a model for many other cities; elected to the 67th Congress 1921-1923. Elected judge of the circuit court of Wayne County, MI 7 terms, 1924-1954.
