Biographical Sketch:
Admitted to the bar 1833 and practiced law in Eaton, NY. Moved to Adrian, MI, 1836; elected MI State Sen. 1837-39; Lt. Gov., 1845; Gov. of Michigan, 1847;mayor of Adrian, 1858-59; justice of the peace for 12 years.

Notable Facts:
He had the shortest tenure of any Michigan governor with 10 months in office; he stepped in when Gov. Felch resigned to become US Senator. Death recorded in Lenewee County listings though it says Eaton Rapids, which is in Eaton County. Stewards of the State gives death date as 12/2/1883. Signed the law, in 1847, moving the capital from Detroit to Lansing.
