Biographical Sketch:
Admitted to the bar 1833 and practiced law in Eaton, NY. Moved to Adrian, MI, 1836; elected MI State Sen. 1837-39; Lt. Gov., 1845; Gov. of Michigan, 1847;mayor of Adrian, 1858-59; justice of the peace for 12 years.
Notable Facts:
He had the shortest tenure of any Michigan governor with 10 months in office; he stepped in when Gov. Felch resigned to become US Senator.
