Biographical Sketch:
Son of James Soloman [or Selden] and Mary (Offitt) McBride. While an undergraduate, he was awarded a prize for economic work and was appointed to do work for the census bureau by Robert P. Porter, commissioner of census. 2 ears after his graduation, he was elected Superintendent of Schools of Shiawassee County, where he served successfully for 2 years. He was student of agricultural chemistry and economics, and a speaker at farmers ' institutes. He secured the passage of the law for state aid for crippled children, which was later enacted in other states. He engaged in farming and live stock feeding in Owosso and Middlebury township, Shiawassee county. He managed the Owosso Times after purchasing a half share in the publication in 1891.
