Son of John and Mary Polly (Fredericks) Fitzsimmons. He moved to Reading, MI from Rose, NY in 1837. He was elected treasurer of the town in 1839, serving 2 years in that position; in 1840 was chosen a justice of the peace. This office he held for 16 years, the last 12, continuously from 1851-63. He was township supervisor 1852. Member of the Masons.
