Biographical Sketch:
He enlisted in the aviation corps and served with a southern regiment in the coast artillery corps at Fort Dade, FL, during the world war. He was a cabinet maker by trade until 1919 when he first connected with the Hayes Body Corporation where he learned the auto body trimming trade. Was elected president of the Hayes Body Employees Association and was promoted to the office of employment manager in 1927. He was elected city commissioner for 2 terms, also was elected a member of the Kent county board of supervisors and served two terms.
