A, Signal Corps, U.S. Army, with the Punitive Expeditionary Force in Mexico, 1916 & 1917; during the WWI, Sgt. 1st Class, Co. B, 2nd Field Signal Batt., Amer. Expeditionary Forces, 1917-1919; commissioned 2nd Lt., Reserve Corps, while in Germany. Paper mill worker in Escanaba, MI, 1923-1936. Member of the Escanaba city council, 1934

Elected to the 75th Congress 1937-39 Appointed Comm. of Conciliation for the U.S. Dept. of Labor for upper MI & northern WI. Committees:Labor (chair). Sponsored a national bill allowing state compacts re: Gr. Lakes fishing regulations.
