Son of Elisha and Aurelia (Hatch) Taylor. Moved to Grand Rapids, MI, 1836. Held several local posts. Member of the commission that selected the sites for the Insane Asylum in Kalamazoo & the Asylum for the Deaf & Dumb in Flint. Register of the Land Office for the Sheboygan District, 1854-56. Edited the Enquirer in Grand Rapids, 1847-55; Detroit Free Press, 1861-62
