Son of Lyman and Esther (Brownell) Spencer. Moved to Pennsylvania in 1849-61. Moved to Indian Fields Township, MI in 1861. He was Supervisor from 1862-66, [nine times] and for two 2 years, he was chairman of the Board. He has been township treasurer 3 times, twice village president and frequently a member of the common council. From 1872-76, he was register of deeds and was one of the officials who first occupied the court house. He was living in Los Gatos, CA in 1900
