Biographical Sketch:
Lucius D. and Sarah Tinkler (English) Watkins. He was appointed a member of the state board of agriculture in 1899, and served twice as president of the state association of farmers' clubs, twice as president of the Michigan improved livestock breeders' association; and was a director of the West Michigan Fair and vice president of the Michigan State Fair. He was also a member of nearly every scientific organization of the state.

Notable Facts:
His uncle Freeman C. Watkins , was a member of the first constitutional convention of Michigan.
