Came from Vermont to Battle Creek in 1832 and settled on a farm. He held various local offices. He was one of the founders of the Presbyterian Church at Battle Creek, of which he was an active member. He was a Justice for many years and was acting in that capacity at the time of his death, May 12, 1860.
