Biographical Sketch:
Of English descent. Son of Samuel and Elizabeth(Cordell) Choate. Came to Michigan with his parents after the War of 1812, in 1816. He served as postmaster, supervisor (23 consectutive years plus), township clerk and justice of the peace. Delegate to Michigan state constitutional convention, 1850.
