Son of Fred and Lulu (Johnson) Hilbert. He served as township clerk for 6 years and member of the village council for 4; and a volunteer fireman. He was owner and operator of the Cowbell Seed Company which he began in 1930; later named Amturf Seeds. He founded the Plank Road Farm. Governor Milliken appointed him to the Tax Appeal Board and the State Compensation Committee. Member of the Masons, Shriners and Rotary Club. Former township clerk for 6 years and member of village council for 4 years.
