Biographical Sketch:
Son of Joel or Jack P. and Susan F (Robinson) Bell. Moved to Dover, ME about 1845. He assisted his father on the farm until age 17. He started teaching during the winter at 17. He read law in the office of Plaisted & Clark, Bangor, A.G. Lebroke, Foxcroft, Maine and was admitted to the Maine bar in 1868. He moved to Cheboygan, MI in 1869. He served as probate judge for Cheboygan County for 6 years, he was circuit court commissioner and held several minor township and village offices.
